Demos I-III

by Occoquain

supported by

Lorenzo thumbnail
Lorenzo Brooding and lightless black metal skewed with an intense dissonance and chaos im points. Immersed in a darkness and a thick atmosphere, the vocals sound evil shrouded in whirlwind like arrays of sound. The guitar tone and drums are perfectly off-kilter, and add a volatility to each track

This release collects all three spectacular demos from this band so far, and it is really interesting to see the progression and honing of certain facets to become even more complex and aggressive.

about

RED DOOR RECORDS is proud to announce that demos I-III from OCCOQUAIN are being released together on vinyl.
▪▪▪
With each demo having been released on tape over the span of a year, the project quickly became known for a consistent and brooding sound. All three demos retain a thick atmosphere that when put together seem to flow as one. Though each demo gets progressively more chaotic. The guitar melodies start out dissonant and standard to the sound, then grow later in the demos to become more chaotic and slightly angular. The rhythms eventually reach a point near whirlwind status, not in the fast paced sense but due to them speeding up and slowing down repeatedly.
The drums compliment every bit of the demos, especially the angular end of them. What's most complimenting across each track presented are the vocals. They range from primitive and crude all the way to high pitched howls. On top of these moments the project saw an unexpected couple of additions with demo III in the form of a trumpet and wooden flute. A truly maddening addition to an already weighty mix.

I've been hooked since the first demo and am extremely proud to bring these tapes to a broader sound through 100 copies of black vinyl, accompanied by a double sided insert and unseen art. (The demos were initially released on short run tapes featuring hand painted calligraphy with a second run made professionally for those that missed out. That feature might return with test pressings...who knows.
